Dakota Rural Action launched a new site to help members navigate South Dakota’s 2016 legislative session. The site includes a 2016 legislative guide, a breakdown on the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’s report to the legislature, and an analysis of the hidden costs of CAFOs.
Five DRA members regularly blog on a variety of issues.
DRA’s top legislative priorities for 2016 include:
- Fair payment and transparency in how utilities compensate South Dakotans for energy production
- Reforming the Family Farm Act to be pro-farm
- Fixing eminent domain to protect landowners from pipeline companies who don’t want to do it right
DRA also produces “Dakota Rural Voices,” a podcast you can download, listen online or hear live every Thursday at 1pm CT on KSDJ 90.7 in the Brookings area. You can also see photos of all the action at the legislature on DRA’s instagram.
